Don Mitchell Ph.D., Vice President of Engineering
Don Mitchell has over 20 years of experience building and leading successful software product development teams. From startups, to boutique consulting firms transitioning to software product firms, to technology rich, but product poor emerging firms seeking to become reliable delivery organizations, Don’s signature approach begins with alignment of business planning, and then drives the product roadmap from a customer-driven perspective, building both the team and technology to meet the market's needs.
Most recently, Don headed up product development for ConnecTerra, leading their integration into BEA after its acquisition. Don’s team delivered over 25 releases under his leadership, assuring productivity after the BEA acquisition and aggressively integrated the products into BEA's WebLogic product suite, sales, support, and delivery operations.
Before ConnecTerra, Don converted ProfitLogic from a boutique consulting company to an ASP and on-site product delivery company for Retail Optimization. Commanding a distributed development team including an Indian outsourcer, he established the product development process, and drove the first releases of two new products, and guided the regular releases of the flagship product, leading to the firm’s acquisition by Oracle.
At i2 Technologies, Don directed the scheduling product line which i2 bought from the boutique consulting and tools company, Optimax. He built the product portfolio, development process, and product management processes into the most highly referenceable offerings in the i2 portfolio.
Don founded two software product companies -- one analyzing and tracking the profitability of futures trading (hedging), and one for enterprise project management using repeatable processes and shared resources. His project management product won the Demo 95 award as well as other accolades.
